Peanut butter is a classic. Like anything that stands the test of time, it has A LOT going for it. It tastes great, it’s simple, quick and convenient. Here comes the “but”…BUT it’s not exactly a perfect health food.

Peanuts are among the Top 7 most common food allergens, and they’re not actually a nut. They’re legumes. Neither of these make them fatal for your diet – unless you’re allergic! But there are better choices form a health standpoint – almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, and macadamias to name a few.

If you haven’t tried those, you’re in for a treat. No matter which nut you prefer, here are 3 ways to keep your nut butter fresh and tasty!

The Recipes: 

** Each recipe makes 8 servings (2 Tablespoons per serving)**

Cinnamon Crunch Nut Butter

  • 2/3 Cup Almonds or Cashews
  • 2 Tablespoons Chopped Almonds or Cashews
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

Chocolate Covered Currant Nut Butter 

  • 2/3 Cup Almonds or Cashews
  • 2 Tablespoons Currants
  • 2 Teaspoons Cocoa Powder

Sriracha Nut Butter 

  • 2/3 Cup Almonds or Cashews
  • 1 Tablespoon Sriracha


  1. Place nuts into food processor and blend until smooth consistency. (About 10 minutes)
  2. Fold in accents
  3. Enjoy!
